  • Installation

Before installing Smarterlite’s Environmental Exit Signs, existing old-tech electric-battery Exit Signs must be removed by a licensed electrical contractor.

Installation of Apollo Exit Signs requires a suitably qualified contractor.

Initial installation of Smarterlite’s Hybrid Exit Signs must only be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor.

The building Essential Services Manual (or equivalent) must be updated following installation and the Handover Pack left in the Manual.

  • Mounting

    For the Hyperion range (24M – 32M), our universal mounting box provides an all-in-one mount;

    • Wall
    • Ceiling
    • Pole
    • Recessed
    • Hanging

To reduce installation time, our universal mounting box has predrilled holes that align with those from common oldtech AS/NZS 2293 units. The Smarterlite Hyperion universal mounting box is designed to cover the footprint of the removed sign to eliminate patching and painting, improving efficiency and reducing costs when switching to our Environmental Exit Sign technology.

  • Pictorials

Smarterlite’s Hyperion Environmental Exit Sign is supplied double sided, with all pictorials.

Unused pictorials can be returned to Smarterlite to include in our recycling program, reducing waste in supply chains.

  • Dual-purpose Exit Signs

Best-practice in lighting design is for the emergency lighting grid to be independent of Exit Signs and not to rely on Dual-Purpose Exit Signs.

Where a dual-purpose Exit Sign is being replaced, first check whether the existing Emergency Luminaire lighting grid requires a dual-purpose Exit Sign.

If not, the dual-purpose Exit Sign can be directly replaced by a battery-free Smarterlite Exit Sign.

If an Emergency Luminaire is required, a separate one can be installed in accordance with AS/NZS 2293.

In this case, having a separate Emergency Luminaire and Hyperion Environmental Exit Sign is more cost-effective than an expensive, failure prone dual-purpose Exit Sign, because when the batteries for either the Emergency Luminaire or the Exit Sign in a Dual Purpose Exit Sign fail, the entire Dual-purpose Exit Sign is replaced. This generates more eWaste and plastic waste.

By having separate fittings, only the smaller Emergency Luminaire needs to be replaced when its battery fails, reducing eWaste and plastic waste.
