Designing Traffic Lights & Crossings for People with LED TGSI
The Vivacity LED Safety Tactile fundamentally rethinks how visual information is provided to pedestrians at traffic signals and pedestrian crossings for roads, tramlines and train tracks. It is a Tactile Ground Surface Indictor (TGSI) that incorporates LED lights that can be connected to traffic lights.
Until now, the visual Walk/Don’t Walk signal has been a small red/green ‘man’ located across the road or tram track – on the other side of the hazard. We’d never accept that in a workplace or for a vehicle driver – locating the warning of a hazard after the hazard!
The Vivacity LED Safety Tactile addresses this design issue for pedestrians. It brings the vital visual signal to the same side of the road as the pedestrian, in a much larger format that is more likely to be seen.
The webinar will show you the tactile, how it’s installed, what’s been learned from the Melbourne demonstration site and the results of the South Korean program evaluation that considered crashes before and after their installation program at multiple sites.
