Technical Specialist

The Role
The Product Technical Specialist is a key technical advocacy role responsible for driving the adoption of Smarterlite solutions at the design and pre-construction stages. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing high-level support to the consultants and designers responsible for building safety, sustainability, and electrical services.
The successful candidate will ensure Smarterlite is correctly specified in project schedules by acting as a technical resource for:
- Asset Owners & Sustainability Leads
- Electrical and Building Services Engineers
- Lighting Designers and Fire Safety Consultants
- Building Certifiers and Design Managers
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Specification: Influence product selection during the design phase to ensure Smarterlite solutions are integrated into project documentation and schedules.
- Compliance Advisory: Provide expert guidance on The National Construction Code & Australian Standards, and evolving fire safety and energy-efficiency standards.
- Design Support: Support engineering teams with technical data, value engineering, and compliant documentation for project tenders.
- Professional Representation: Deliver accredited CPD presentations and technical briefings to engineering and architectural firms.
- Internal Collaboration: Work alongside our specialized sales and delivery teams to track specifications through the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience
To maintain technical credibility with our partners, we seek a candidate with a strong technical foundation in the built environment.
- Formal Qualifications: Tertiary or vocational qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Engineering, Building Surveying, or Fire Engineering.
- Professional Memberships: Current or previous membership with relevant industry bodies such as Engineers Australia & the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret electrical/fire safety drawings, specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Communication: A proven ability to discuss technical requirements and compliance-based outcomes with professional consultants.
